Explorers

The Explorers kit plunges students into the daring world of discovery, where they build, decode, imagine, and collaborate their way through uncharted classroom adventures. Each challenge sparks curiosity, strengthens resilience, and brings history and problem-solving to life through hands-on exploration.

  • A red life raft floating on calm ocean waters at sunset with a mostly cloudy sky.

    Liferaft Challenge

Students are tasked with designing and constructing a mini liferaft that can carry weight and withstand “stormy seas” using limited classroom materials. This hands-on engineering challenge fosters resilience, teamwork, and iterative problem-solving.

  • An open handwritten letter with cursive writing, a vintage pocket watch showing 12:00, and an ornate pen and ink bottle on a table.

    The Quartermasters Journal

Students uncover and piece together the fragmented journal of a legendary ship’s quartermaster, each entry revealing clues and character backstories. Through reading, writing, and creative roleplay, they develop empathy, narrative thinking, and inferencing.

  • Decode & Discover

    Cipher Map Challenge

Learners decode a series of hidden messages using historical ciphers to navigate a mysterious explorer’s map. Along the way, they sharpen logic, pattern recognition, and history-based inquiry skills.

  • A maritime-themed board game set up with game pieces, dice, and cards on a colorful game board.

    Treasure vs. Survival

In this culminating team quest, students combine their skills to tackle group tasks, decode final clues, and complete a classroom-wide expedition using what they’ve learned from the other challenges. The activity builds classroom camaraderie, reinforces grit, and celebrates collective perseverance with a showcase or leaderboard event.
